Religion
Asia is home to some of the oldest cultures. Some of these cultures are Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. The first three come from the Middle East (southwest Asia ). Below is a picture of the Budda, the man who devoted his life to becoming enlightened. He tought his people this same religion. Buddha means teacher.

There are Five important items that Sikhs have on their daily possession that all start with the letter K.
•Kara
The kara is a bangle, made of iron or steel that represent the strength of your soul.
•Kangha
The Kangha is the wooden comb that keep the hair nice and tidy.
•Kachera
The Kachera is special cotton underwear representing purity.
•Kirpan
The Kirpan is a sword that fights for truth.
•Kesh
The Kesh is uncut hair. The Sikhs believe that the hair should be kept long.
•Kara

Yin and Yang mean the Dark side and the Sunny side of the hill. They represent the opposites of the world. Dark and Light, Female and Male, Earth and Heaven, Death and Birth, Matter and Spirit.

Agriculture

People in Asia like rice in warmer, wetter places. Farmers also raise poultry and livestock for meat. There are lots of different types of foods in Asia, and some countries have foods that only that country makes.

Eating meat is luxury for some Asians and they only eat it on special occasions. A normal diet consists of a variety of veggies. Below is a picture of plov, a tasty dish of rice pilaf, vegetables, beans, seeds, and chunks of meat. It is made in Uzbek.

History
There were three major time periods in Asian history. The first period was even before the Europeans came. That was when writing was invented. The second major time period was when Europeans came to Asia. They came mostly for the wealth of the continent. The third phase of Asian history started right after World War II. Within the next 30 years, all the countries became independent.

At 509m, Taipei 101 is one of the tallest buildings in the world. The tallest is also in Asia, called Burj Khalifa, in Dubai.

This is the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab, India. It is a place of of worship for the sikhs. It was built in the 16th century by Guru Ram Das.
